The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are spending their honeymoon in the south of France at their new home, a massive property called Chateau de St Gil Perse. Located near Nice, it’s a former palace—Prince Charles once stayed there while visiting his mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II.

The super-luxurious residence features a large staff accommodation block and many guest villas that have been transformed to resemble European country homes. The Chateau de St Gil Perse: Everything You Need to Know

The Chateau is located in the south of France, on a cliff top above the French Riviera, close to Nice. It was once a palace belonging to Prince Charles, who married Princess Diana at the property in 1981. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are now living there, having completed their honeymoon at the end of July.

The Chateau de St Gil Perse is surrounded by a large park, which includes a pool, terrace, tennis court and walkways. The garden also has statues, a pergola and a gazebo. There’s also a staff accommodation block with a gym, library and many other facilities.

The main house, with two wings for guests and staff, has a gym, sauna, steam room and hot tub. The kitchen has an electric oven, dishwasher and fridge with a freezer compartment for guests’ needs. The laundry room has a washing machine and driers. The grounds also have a swimming pool, a barbecue area and changing rooms.

The private villa complex also has its park, complete with a pool, terrace, flower beds, walking paths, statues and a gazebo. There’s also a barbecue area, changing rooms, a pergola and views over the Mediterranean Sea. While the villa is near the main Chateau de St Gil Perse, there are also plenty of other outdoor activities to keep the newlyweds and their families entertained.

Nice Airport is only a 35-minute drive away and there are plenty of attractions in the area, including Monaco, Menton and the beach at Cannes. The park also includes a sculpture of a lion, a symbol of William and Kate’s royal titles. It was created by Scottish artist Alexander Fleming, who was born in nearby Dalkeith. The sculpture was commissioned by Prince Charles when he stayed at the property in the 1970s and is now a landmark for the Duke and Duchess to see when they walk outside.

There’s a pool, terrace and tennis court

The park around the Chateau is impressive, but if the newlyweds want to spend more time outdoors, they can do so at Nice’s beach, which is only a short drive away. There are also plenty of sports and leisure activities to keep the whole family entertained.

The villa complex has a pool, with a terrace that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. There’s also a tennis court, which is perfect for playing with their children or for hosting a tennis party. Even though the villa is near the beach, the Duke and Duchess will have access to their private jet for trips around the world. These can be used for travel within Europe.

In the main house, there are two wings for guests and staff

The main house has two wings that have been converted into guest suites. These have a bedroom, bathroom, bedroom with a wardrobe and a living room with a dining table and chairs.

The wings are connected to the main house and the kitchen, which can be used by everyone staying there. There’s also a laundry room and a staff parking area. The wings have a separate entrance and are available for rent on a nightly basis. The suites come with Wi-Fi and a TV, and each unit has a fridge, a hob and a balcony.

The main house also has a separate guest villa for some of the couple’s close family members. The villa has an open-plan kitchen, a dining table, a sofa and a bathroom with a walk-in shower.

The luxury finishes include a cinema room, sauna, hot tub and steam room

While St Gil Perse is the couple’s official residence, they also own a property in Scotland, Balmoral Castle. This is where they spend their weekends, so they can enjoy a break from it all during the week. There are many luxurious features at St Gil Perse, including a cinema room, sauna, hot tub and steam room.

Guests can also enjoy the swimming pool, or relax in the hammam sauna room. The cinema room has a projector and a selection of films and videos for guests’ entertainment. The sauna room has an electric heater and the steam room is water-driven, so it’s a natural detoxifier.
